How to Edit Videos Using ChatGPT with Zero Editing Skills

ChatGPT can work with ChatCut to edit videos through simple text instructions. You can upload your footage, describe the changes you want, refine the result through chat, and export the finished video without using traditional editing software.

Step 1: Open Codex in ChatGPT

Download the ChatGPT desktop app and sign in to your account.
Select Codex from the left sidebar, then start a new conversation.

Step 2: Install and Connect ChatCut

Enter the following prompt in Codex:

Read chatcut.io/chatgpt and install the ChatCut plugin.

Follow the instructions to create a free ChatCut account, sign in, and connect it to Codex.

Step 3: Upload Your Video and Describe the Edit

Upload the video you want to edit, along with any extra clips, images, or logos you want to include.

Then describe the changes you want ChatCut to make. For example:

“@Chatcut Edit this video into a polished, engaging final cut. Remove pauses and mistakes, tighten the pacing, add smooth transitions, improve the audio and use the uploaded clips, images, and logo where appropriate”

Review the result and continue requesting changes in the same chat until the video looks the way you want.

Step 5: Export the Final Video

Once you are happy with the result, type: “Export the final video as a high-quality MP4”

ChatCut will prepare the finished video for download. You can also export it manually by selecting the Export option and downloading the final video.

This workflow lets creators, marketers, and businesses produce polished videos by describing their ideas in plain language, making video editing much easier for anyone without professional editing experience.
